How the three mornings run

One question per morning.

01Fri 22 January

Follow the money.

Where the money in health comes from: taxes, premiums, pockets.

  • Bismarck and Beveridge, in plain words
  • The Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany side by side
  • The budget that would pay for you
02Fri 29 January

Prove it.

What “worth it” means to the people who pay.

  • Health technology assessment (is it worth paying for?)
  • The EU joint assessment: what it covers today
  • A QALY (one year in full health), explained with a pen
03Fri 5 February

Name the price.

How prices are set, copied and negotiated.

  • Reference pricing and launch order
  • Confidential deals and outcome contracts
  • Your move: the room plays the payer committee

Questions

Asked often.

I have no background in health or economics. Is this for me?

Yes. That is who it is for. Every term is explained the first time it comes up, and no question is too basic.

I do not have a product. Can I come?

Yes. We hand you one of three case products: a sleep app, a home blood test, a medicine for a rare disease. You map it like your own.

I sell a medicine, not a device. Is this for me?

Yes. The logic of money, evidence and price applies to medicines too. The third morning covers reference pricing and confidential deals.

Will my product details stay private?

The discussion runs under the Chatham House rule, product details are covered by a short mutual confidentiality agreement, and two direct competitors never sit at the same table.

What if I miss a morning?

You get that morning’s map and a short catch-up call before the next one.

More questions
Are there slides?

No. Each morning has one printed map on the table that you write on and keep.

Is this consulting?

No. It is a course. For help on your own product, there is the Private Session and the Verdict.

How is this different from an online course?

Eight people, one table, and your question in the middle of it. See the comparison.

Eight seats. Three mornings.
